2020 was a tough year in many ways, but it is the year Hendrick Contracting was established and allowed us the opportunity to help some customers. Three of which I will highlight in this post.
The first project had two separate issues which needed addressed. These homeowners have very undulated property and have a small fenced in deck to hold their garbage and recycling cans. The deck had been overtaken by ivy and, unable to dry, certain sections deteriorated and rotted quite rapidly. We installed a new 4×4 post , “sistered” all the joists, used Simpson brackets to bolster the connections due to moisture, dug additional drainage routes which were then filled with drainage gravel, then finally finished it off with new treated deck boards.
Inside this same home, the basement step balusters were too widely spaced. The homeowners have small children in the home and were concerned with the potential for trouble. So, we added fill-in balusters to prevent children from being able to fit through these. They were installed, screw holes were filled and sanded, and all of the balusters were repainted.
The second location was a new brewery looking for additional seating to match the theme of their brand new brick and mortar location. There is an upstairs deck where we installed 32 feet of custom fabricated bench to fit under the existing railing to look “as-built” with the deck. Then downstairs under the deck, two three-sided benches of the same style, were installed between the 6×6 posts holding up the deck to the tune of 50+ feet total. We also designed and built six lawn chairs to go with all this project.
The third I will highlight in this article was exterior work on a home in the form of paint and gutter replacement. The homeowners contacted me regarding some water damage that was happening from their existing aged and rusting in a couple funky corners on the home. Several sections of gutter back board were replaced and painted before the gutters were installed to correct the damage, the gutters were installed, and the house was painted.
