We installed a new 4x4 post, "sistered" all the joists, used Simpson brackets to bolster the connections against moisture, and dug new drainage routes filled with drainage gravel. Then we finished it off with new treated deck boards.
A family's basement step balusters were spaced too widely for a home with small children. We added fill-in balusters so children cannot fit through, then filled and sanded the screw holes and repainted all of the balusters.
